TxDOT offers several programs that provide funding to local communities, other government agencies and select groups to aid in the development of transportation projects and services.

Keep Texas Beautiful Governor's Community Achievement Awards Annually: Recipients are chosen every spring. Christine Canul

Description: Awarded to organizations with grassroots environmental programs. Funding comes from money set aside by TxDOT for landscaping needs.

Eligible: All Texas communities

Learning Information Network and Collaboration Program Annually: Dates announced in September. Berdell Collins

Description: Businesses are mentored by TxDOT and taught how to do business with the department.

Eligible: Small and minority-owned businesses

National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) Program Annually: Statements of Work (SOWs) are due every November.

Extension for FY 2014 SOWs are due Jan. 15, 2014.

Description: A program designed to provide awareness to middle and high school students about transportation careers and encourage them to consider transportation-related courses of study in their higher education pursuits. See Instructions and Guidelines.

On-the-Job Training Supportive Services (OJT/SS) Program Annually:

Description: A program that helps develop job training and apprenticeship programs aimed at increasing representation of disadvantaged individuals, minorities and women in the highway construction industry.

Eligible: Consultants, universities or organizations involved in the transportation industry.

Description: Infrastructure or non-infrastructure projects that improve the safety of children in grades K-8 that walk or bike to school.
