Winners in 2015 Aviation Art Contest
Seven-year-old Ava Liberty Smith's poster was judged first in the ages 6-9 category.

Since 1989, the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) has sponsored the International Aviation Art Contest to challenge young people to illustrate the importance of aviation through art. TxDOT’s Aviation Division hosts the contest at the state level.

In the 2015 Texas contest, thirteen students ages 7 to 16 were named winners. Entries were judged in three categories, according to age and for creative use of the theme in relation to the aviation world.

All told, 850 students from 40 schools submitted entries in the Texas challenge of the International Aviation Art Contest.

In the 2015 competition, students created posters about the FAI's World Air Games Dubai. Below are the Texas winners and links to their entries.

2016 International Aviation Art Contest

The 2016 contest theme is “Air Sports In Harmony With Nature.”

Children between the ages of 6 and 17 may participate in the contest. Entries are judged in three age classes for creative use of the theme. Each FAI member country sponsors the contest in their country, and submits national winners to the International Jury every year.

Each year anywhere from 850-1500 students from schools across the state submit their entries in the Texas challenge of the International Aviation Art Contest. Once the winners at the state level are selected, the art is then sent to be judged at the national level in Washington, D.C.

Artwork must be postmarked by Friday, Jan. 22, 2016.
