Jerral Wyer serves as director of Occupational Safety.
Wyer began his TxDOT career in OCC in 1991 as program administrator and was responsible for implementing safety procedures and industrial hygiene standards in field operations. In 1992, Wyer was promoted and served as the Safety and Industrial Hygiene section director. For 19 years he worked with districts, divisions and offices to create, develop and enhance safety processes, establish loss prevention programs and improve safety procedures for vehicle and equipment operations that have steadily reduced employee injuries and vehicle incidents.
In April 2010, Wyer became the director of the Occupational Safety Division. He continues to enhance TxDOT operations by implementing innovative risk management initiatives and safety management systems to continuously heighten employee safety as a core value. TxDOT's Mission Zero safety culture is a model for other departments of transportation around the country. Wyer serves as the department representative and is a member of the North American Association of Transporation Safety and Health Officials (NAATSHO) and the Associated General Contractors Safety Task Force.
Wyer was born and raised in Edna and earned a bachelor's degree in education from Texas A&M University in 1986.
