WESTLAKE – Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 work will begin to close a small section of J.T. Ottinger Road between the SH 170 frontage roads. This will prevent the crossing of SH 170 east and westbound which is a safety concern. This will also prevent westbound traffic in the left lane from slowing down to turn left (southbound) onto J.T. Ottinger Road.
Westbound traffic headed to south J.T. Ottinger Road will continue westbound about 1,500 feet to a U-turn lane and cross over to the eastbound side of SH 170 to utilize southbound J.T. Ottinger Road. To access Main Street from south J.T. Ottinger Road traffic will head east on SH 170 to the Trophy Lake Drive crossover, make a U-turn to westbound SH 170 to north J.T. Ottinger Road.
This permanent conversion is necessary to improve safety by preventing traffic from slowing down in front of high-speed traffic exiting SH 114 westbound via the SH 170 direct connect ramp and to prevent traffic crossing over SH 170 from south J.T. Ottinger road from crossing in front of high-speed traffic on westbound SH 170.
