Bicycles are vehicles, too. As a clean mode of travel that improves health, reduces stress and relieves traffic congestion, bicycling plays a unique role in meeting Texas’ local transportation challenges.
We regard bicycles as major components in Texas’ transportation picture. TxDOT has a state bicycle program coordinator and a Bicycle Advisory Committee, and each of its 25 state districts has its own district bicycle coordinator who serves as a point of contact with the public on local biking matters.
Bicycle safety is important, and TxDOT continually works to make roadways more bike-friendly.
Whether you are riding to work, to school, for exercise or just for fun, cycling is a great way to get around. TxDOT wants to encourage Texans to ride, and to do it safely and responsibly.
