The expansion of Business 46 (Walnut Street) from Kerlick Lane to Landa Street in New Braunfels is needed to improve mobility on this section of roadway. Proposed improvements include the following:
The project would also add curb and sidewalk to accommodate pedestrians and bikes, provide a potential noise wall in front of Ridgecrest Condominiums pending landowner approval, and include drainage. A 25-foot-high retaining wall will be required to widen the road towards the canyon for a 2,000-foot stretch in the “down the hill” section of the project.
This project, if approved, will use State Proposition 12 funds. The estimated construction cost of the proposed project is approximately $8.7 million. The anticipated letting date for the project is August 2013 with a projected duration of 12 months.
