Purpose | The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Yoakum District in partnership with the Victoria Metropolitan Planning Organization (Victoria MPO) is proposing to improve FM 236 from US 77 to FM 237 in Victoria County, Texas. This notice advises the public that TxDOT will be conducting an open house on the proposed project. |
Description | The proposed improvements to FM 236 include the addition of three lanes to make a five-lane undivided highway with a two-way continuous left turn lane. The proposed typical section includes four 12-foot-wide lanes with a 14-foot-wide two-way continuous left turn lane and 10-foot-wide shoulders. The proposed right of way (ROW) is typically 160 feet wide. Approximately 100 acres of proposed ROW would be acquired for the proposed project. No sidewalks or easements are currently proposed. No temporary or permanent easements are anticipated. The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace one residential structure. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right of way acquisition and construction, can be obtained from the TxDOT district office at the address listed below. Any environmental documentation or studies, maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Yoakum District Office, 403 Huck Street, Yoakum, TX 77995. This information also will be available for inspection at the open house. |
Accessibility | The open house and virtual option will be conducted in English. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or you have difficulty communicating effectively in English, one will be provided to you. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. If you need interpretation or translation services or you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend and participate in the open house, please contact the Yoakum District Public Information Officer at 361-293-4436 no later than 4 p.m. CT on July 12, 2023 to review the project materials or submit information.
