Purpose TxDOT is proposing to reconstruct, re-align, and widen existing lanes of FM 565 from SH 99 to SH 146 in Chambers County, Texas.
Description

The approximately 2.9-mile proposed project would:

  • Widen the existing two-lane section with narrow shoulders to two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction
  • Add a 16-foot raised median (with periodic left turn lanes)
  • 10-foot outside shoulders.

A new FM 565 bridge is proposed to overpass the Union Pacific Railroad crossing, thus eliminating the at-grade crossing, and would re-route FM 565 traffic to SH 146 by way of FM 1405. No sidewalks are proposed as part of this project. The proposed project would require additional right of way from SH 146 to FM 1405, consisting of 15.5 acres.

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way, but would not displace any residences.
