Historically, the summer months see an increase in traffic on our Texas roads and highways. Unfortunately, the months of May through August also see an increase in DWI alcohol-related crashes and fatalities. As a result, TxDOT launched the Summer P.A.S.S. program.
The program’s key message: If you’re planning on drinking this summer, make sure you have a Summer P.A.S.S. (Person Appointed to Stay Sober) to drive you home. The campaign urges everyone to make plans for a safe and sober ride home in advance—and also reminds them that a sober driver is someone who has not been drinking at all.
