How long does the implementation phase take?
| TxDOT has estimated that implementations should take no more than 170 days and could take as little as 80 days. TxDOT's ability to get the Inter Local Agreement (ILA) signed and get the configuration requirements met is the key to determining how long their implementation will take. If an agency is able to move forward quickly on these two key areas TxDOT will be able to get them up and running in Pilot mode in very short order.

|
What if my agency cannot get the Inter Local Agreement (ILA) signed quickly?
| Some agencies are able to move this along quite expeditiously and others are not. If your agency is experiencing delays the implementation will be delayed as well. Once your agency has the requisite pieces in place TxDOT will determine when they can complete the implementation and will communicate this to the agency point of contact. |
|
How long does it take for the ILA to be processed?
| This could take 3 to 4 months, because it requires a city council resolution. |
|
What will I do if I need help using the application after my agency has gone live?
| TxDOT is in the process of procuring a vendor to run a CRASH help desk. This help desk will have an 800 number and staff available 24/7 x 365. In the meantime TxDOT's UAT Support Team will provide assistance:

What are the application requirements for running CRASH?
| Your agency must have access to the internet - IE 7.0 or higher - and Easy Street Draw v5 in order to use the CRASH application. |
|
What Software or Hardware will I need in order to install and use the CRASH application?
Smaller (25-40 logins per minute) agencies minimum requirements are as follows:
- Pentium III class processor in the 1GHz range
- 512MB RAM
- 150MB storage
- Any Ethernet card
Larger agencies (150 simultaneous requests) minimum requirements are:
- Xeon/Opteron class processor (mid-level spec)
- 2GB RAM
- Gigabit Ethernet card
To increase the availability, the production machines should have their hard drives mirrored (RAID 1). The use of multiple servers and load balancing hardware is also suggested.
The following Software is also required:
- Generally the IdP is run within Tomcat with an Apache HTTP server front-end.
- Apache 2 and Java 1.5 are recommended.
- Be sure to tune both Apache and the JVM used by Tomcat appropriately.

|
What infrastructure changes will my agency need to be prepared for?
An agency that wishes to use the CRASH application must make the following infrastructure available:
- Install and configure Shibboleth Identity Provider (IdP) to work with CRIS Service Providers (SPs), and
- Provide the IdP to the CRIS technical team, so its IdP can be added to the CRIS Shibboleth Discovery Service.
