I-30/SH 360 Interchange
The Texas Transportation Commission has approved Proposition 1 funding toward the new $254 million direct connect I-30/SH 360 interchange project. In fall 2015, TxDOT will award the project to a contractor, with construction beginning soon after.
The project will provide a fully directional interchange at I-30 and SH 360 and will include the reconstruction and widening of the Six Flags Drive bridge over I-30 from two lanes to five lanes (three southbound lanes and two northbound lanes). The bridge will improve access to Six Flags Over Texas and the greater commercial area by extending Six Flags Drive north to Avenue H.
SH 360 from I-30 to I-20
Construction was completed in 2012 on intersection improvements to remove a bottleneck on SH 360 at SH 180/Division Street and the Union Pacific Railroad. Since then, the Texas Transportation Commission issued $20 million toward developing the design of SH 360 from Brown Boulevard to I-20. This allows this project to be shovel-ready once construction funds are identified.
South of I-20 to US 287
Construction on SH 360 south of I-20 to US 287 is estimated to begin in the fall of 2015 as part of a public-public partnership between TxDOT and the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA). The initial SH 360 project will add two toll lanes in each direction from approximately two miles south of I-20 near East Sublett Road/West Camp Wisdom Road to US 287. In addition, the project will provide intersection enhancements and frontage road improvements that would deliver continuous non-tolled frontage roads throughout the corridor. The project will also add US 287 north and southbound mainlane bridges over SH 360 and a portion of the US 287 northbound frontage road and ramps.
The $300 million project is scheduled to reach substantial completion in late 2017 and will be constructed through a design-build approach providing needed safety improvements, congestion relief and economic development benefits. Once built, NTTA will operate the toll road.
The ultimate design for SH 360 is an eight-lane divided tollway north of Debbie Lane/Ragland Road and a six-lane divided tollway south of Debbie Lane/Ragland Road. This final phase, which is currently unfunded, would also include improvements at the SH 360/US 287 interchange.
