Benjamin H. Asher serves as director of the Project Finance, Debt and Strategic Contracts Division.
In this role, among his responsibilities, he oversees the management of TxDOT’s project financing, debt management and strategic contracts programs. This includes the management of multiple debt and financial assistance programs, such as the State Infrastructure Bank and toll equity, as well as aspects of TxDOT's comprehensive development agreements and contract process. Asher brings broad experience in project and governmental financing, tax increment financing, investments, capital planning and lease financing to his position with TxDOT.
Prior to joining the TxDOT team in June 2012, Asher worked for more than 20 years at the Public Resources Advisory Group (PRAG), a financial advisory firm, most recently as a partner and senior managing director in New York. Before joining PRAG, he worked in investment banking on a broad range of financings, including fixed and variable rate issues, taxable and tax-exempt financings, derivatives, private placements and notes.
Asher received a Bachelor of Arts in history from Columbia University and an MBA in finance from Columbia Business School.
He and his wife, Liza, have four sons.
