Description: The Texas Department of Transportation will host an open house meeting for the State Highway 29 corridor between Southwestern Boulevard in Georgetown and SH 95 near Circleville.

The purpose of the project is to accommodate existing and projected traffic volumes and to improve the safety of the existing facility. The proposed project includes upgrading SH 29 to meet current design standards including removing the roadway from the floodplain where feasible, constructing a new roadway in a new location between SH 130 and SH 95, or a combination of the two.

SH 29 was originally constructed between 1932 and 1934. Since that time, only routine maintenance or operational improvements have been made to the roadway. The existing roadway does not meet current design standards for the volume of traffic it currently carries and the projected traffic volume it would carry in the future. This increase in traffic volumes has also led to an above average crash rate.
