Open House - Proposed Reconstruction of Portion of US 180 in Stephens County

Purpose: The Texas Department of Transportation is hosting an open house on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, for the proposed rehabilitation of US 180 from Gonzales Creek in Breckenridge to SH 67 east of the city. This proposed project will reconstruct the roadway, add a center turning lane the full length of the 2.3-mile project, and will add new curbs, gutters and sidewalks from Gonzales Creek to 500 feet east of Melrose Ave (County Road 239). Staff will display schematics of the project, explain the project development process, answer questions and gather local citizen input.
   
Description: Improvements would include:
  • Four 12-foot travel lanes, a 14-foot center turning lane, shoulder varying in width from 3.5 feet to 5 feet, with new curbs and gutters for a portion of the length of the project
  • 5-foot sidewalks and ADA curb ramps to accommodate pedestrians, from Gonzales Creek to 500 feet east of Melrose Ave. (CR 239)
  • New center turning lane from Graham Street to SH 67
This open house will be held in a come and go format. All interested citizens are invited to come visit with staff regarding the project.
