Open House - SH 249 Study

Purpose: This open house will provide the public with the opportunity to learn more about the proposed roadway improvements to SH 249 from FM 1774 to SH 105 in Grimes County. The public can view the recommended study area exhibits, talk with project staff and give input on proposed improvements followed by an informal presentation. Citizens may come and go at their convenience.
Description: The proposed improvements are intended to improve safety, reduce traffic congestion, enhance regional transportation and provide a hurricane evacuation route. No specific route has been chosen and tolling will be considered. The project includes constructing a two-lane roadway with a passing lane in alternating directions and shoulders within a right-of-way that would accommodate future widening to a four-lane divided highway. The proposed improvements would require additional right-of-way, potentially in a new location.

The public is encouraged to attend this meeting and provide comments at any time on or before Nov. 12, 2013. For more information, visit the SH 249 Project page.
