Purpose:

TxDOT will conduct a public meeting regarding proposed roadway improvements to FM 2100 from the future SH 99 to Huffman Cleveland Road (North) in Huffman, Harris County, Texas. The meeting will be an open house format so citizens may come and go at their convenience and staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Description:

The purpose of the project would accommodate anticipated traffic demand and growth in the region, while enhancing safety by providing a divided highway with raised medians and dedicated left turn lanes at select intersections and cross streets. Proposed improvements include the following:
  • Reconstructing and widening FM 2100, from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided roadway with a raised median
  • Constructing a new four-lane divided roadway with a raised median from FM 1485 to future State Highway 99
  • Adding wider shoulders and new sidewalks
  • Adding open ditches and detention ponds

The proposed roadway design would include two 12-foot travel lanes, a 12-foot shoulder, and a 5-foot sidewalk in each direction divided by an 18-foot-wide raised median. The proposed project area includes approximately 4.5 miles of existing roadway and 1.2 miles of new roadway. Approximately 91 acres of new right of way would be required for the proposed project, including detention ponds. The proposed project may include potential displacements of seven residences, two commercial properties as well as two churches.
