Asherton, TX 78827

When:

Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016
5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Purpose:

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Laredo District is proposing to reconstruct and widen FM 190 between US 83 and SH 85 in Dimmit County between the communities of Asherton and Brundage. As a part of this project the existing bridges on the Nueces River and Nueces Relief would be replaced.

TxDOT will be holding a Public Workshop on Sept. 27, 2016, at the Asherton City Hall located at 7935 US-83, Asherton, TX 78827, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to discuss this proposed detour with any concerned citizen.

Description:

The proposed project would replace the two existing 25-foot-wide bridges with new bridges that are approximately 46 feet wide. Due to the current type and location of these existing bridges, TxDOT will not be able to maintain through traffic in this area during construction. Because of this, a 30-mile construction detour would be required. This construction detour would only be in effect during the construction of the two new bridges, which is estimated to take approximately seven months.

Through traffic on FM 190 would be redirected from the intersection of FM 190 and US 83 West down US 83 then northwest onto FM 1556 then east down SH 85 to the intersection of FM 190 and SH 85. Detour and road closure signs would remain up on these roads throughout the duration of construction of these two bridges.

No new right of way or easements are anticipated for the completion of this proposed project. This project would not require the relocation of any homes or businesses nor would it result in changes in access points or travel patterns. However, the project would require temporary closure of FM 190 at the Nueces River and Nueces Relief during construction activities associated with the replacement of these two bridges.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
