FORT WORTH – Starting this Sunday evening, east and westbound I-30 will have the existing pavement removed and a new surface installed from Oakland Boulevard east to I-820, weather permitting. Various lanes will be closed during construction and potentially reduced to one lane. Closures will be scheduled during off-peak hours Sunday through Thursday nights to minimize impact to motorists.
The overlay is part of the $4.6 million project which will improve mobility and safety by the removal of the existing pavement, repairing the roadway and then overlaying it with a new asphalt surface. The 3-mile project is estimated for completion in the spring of 2018.
Safety is a top priority at TxDOT, and the foundation for the agency’s planning, building and maintaining of projects across the state. When driving through a work zone, some simple steps to take are: slow down, pay attention, avoid distractions such as cell phones, be patient and plan ahead. Motorists can plan their travel by viewing information on closures at DriveTexas.org
TxDOT appreciates the patience of motorists, and encourages attention to all warning signs within the construction work zone while crews work diligently to complete this work as quickly and as safely as possible.
