PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that Highway 19 Construction LLC, Sulphur Springs, Texas, will soon begin rehabilitating and widening FM 1550 from State Highway 34 to FM 824 in Fannin County. This portion of FM 1550 is northeast of Ladonia, Texas.
The contractor was granted 179 working days to complete this project valued at more than $3.3 million. The contractor will begin setting construction signs in this area on May 25. Officials anticipate the work will begin the week of June 1, with an October 2017 completion date, weather permitting.
Officials said this work will sometimes require the contractor to close one lane of traffic, and may at times require a full road closure. The contractor will place message boards along this route to alert motorists of upcoming lane or road closures.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible while this work is underway.
TxDOT officials also advised motorists who travel in this area to remain alert for lane closures, obey all traffic controls on site, and reduce their speed while approaching and traveling through work zones. They should also drive according to road conditions and avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
