Base repair and overlay to take six months

ELLIS COUNTY — A construction project to repair roadway base and then overlay it with new surface on both frontage roads of I-35E north of Waxahachie is breaking ground February 4, 2013.

The location of the project stretches five miles from US 287 to US 77N. The frontage road lanes will also be widened a foot to improve safety.

During construction, traffic on the frontage roads will be narrowed to one lane and alternate routes are encouraged to prevent traffic back-ups. There will be both day and night time lane closures and both northbound and southbound frontage roads will be under construction at the same time.

Austin Bridge and Road, LP is the contractor on the $7.4 million project. The project is expected to be complete in August.

This project was scheduled and phased for the least possible disruption of traffic flow.

TxDOT would like to thank area drivers for their patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this vital project as soon, and as safely, as possible.
