South Clack from Southwest Drive to US 83 Construction

TxDOT will begin a $2 million improvement project on South Clack Street in Abilene between turnarounds and the underpass at Southwest Drive (South 27th Street) and US 83. Construction on the 0.18-mile project is expected to last approximately three months. The purpose of the project is to restore the roadway’s surface as quickly as possible to provide for the safe and efficient movement of people and goods through the area.

Planned improvements

The proposed project will remove the existing roadway surface and replace with concrete to create a concrete pavement intersection. Signing and pavement markings will also be replaced where necessary. This is one of the busiest intersections in Abilene, and the existing roadway is aged and showing wear. The purpose of this project is to restore the roadway's surface as quickly as possible to provide for the safe and efficient movement of peple and goods through the area.

Construction considerations

TxDOT is committed to working with the public to minimize impacts from construction projects as much as possible. The projected construction schedule begins on July 31, 2017.
