US 83 through La Joya is facing increasing congestion and accident rates. These issues along with inefficient corridor connectivity require construction of a relief route.

Proposed improvements include the following:

• Construction of a four lane controlled access highway
  
• Reduced congestion
• Improved mobility
• Improved safety
• Improved corridor connectivity
