AUSTIN - Gov. Rick Perry has reappointed Ted Houghton of El Paso and Fred Underwood of Lubbock to the Texas Transportation Commission for terms to expire Feb. 1, 2015. The commission oversees the Texas Department of Transportation.
Houghton is self-employed in financial services, executive benefits, and estate planning. He served on the School Land Board, El Paso Water Utilities Public Service Board, and El Paso Electric Company Board of Directors. He is also past president of the Sun Bowl Association and a member of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Committee. Houghton received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Underwood is president and CEO of the Trinity Company. He is past vice president and director of the National Cotton Council, and past director and member of the advisory committee of Plains Capital Corporation. He is also chairman and past president of the Ways and Means Committee of the Cotton Warehouse Association, past chairman of the Lubbock International Airport Board, and a past board member of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. Underwood received a bachelor's degree in management from Texas Tech University.
These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
