Summit Focuses On International Trade and Transportation Interests
AUSTIN – Join the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Senator Eliot Shapleigh, in conjunction with the Border Legislative Conference, for the second annual Americas 2020 International Trade & Transportation Summit on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel in San Antonio.
International business, government and community leaders will discuss the trade and transportation interests that unite the United States, Mexico and Canada. Speakers will present ways to expand emerging trade corridors, improve mobility and security across international boundaries, and enhance economic development and global competitiveness.
"As stakeholders in the future of North America, we must foster the development of regional and continental strategies that draw on our countries’ strengths and proximities to ensure our communities can compete in an ever-changing and technologically advanced world society," said Sen. Eliot Shapleigh, Texas Senator and Border Legislative Conference Member. "This summit will allow us to not only look at what our current challenges are, but also to consider the opportunities of an interconnected North America through the implementation of fast, safe and smart strategies."
The summit begins at 9 a.m. and is open to the public. Please register on-site at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter.
Immediately following the Americas 2020 Summit, the Council of State Governments–West (CSG–West) will host the XX Border Legislative Conference, a joint program of the CSG–West and the Southern Legislative Conference aimed at enhancing collaboration and communication among state legislators of the U.S. and Mexico.
