The Maritime Division’s project dashboards highlight port and waterway projects throughout the state. We show performance metrics related to each project and progress toward project completion.
Seaport Connectivity projects
The Seaport Connectivity (Rider) Program provides grants to ports and other entities for projects that will improve connectivity, enhance safety, and relieve congestion in communities around the state’s maritime ports.
Beneficial Use projects
In our most established role, the Maritime Division partners with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to provide land, easements, and right-of-way for the disposal of material dredged from the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW). As good stewards of state resources, the Maritime Division is also exploring ways to collaborate with the USACE on Beneficial Use projects using dredged material to restore wildlife habitat, nourish eroding beaches, or to improve parkland, for example. The USACE Galveston District Beneficial Use Planning Map shows the upcoming maintenance dredging projects and forecasted 5 year plans.
