Letting and award

Before a transportation project can be placed under contract, the contracting agency must let it, or make it available for bidding. Letting involves:

• Request for a submission of bids through a public advertisement.
• Receipt of bids.
• Selection of the most responsive bid using a competitive selection process based on qualifications, best value, experience, or any other factors included by the LG or required by TxDOT or federal funding requirements.

A well planned and executed bidding process allows the local government and TxDOT to get the most competitive price and allows companies to fairly compete for business.
