Open House - SH 21 West Madison County Widening

Purpose: The purpose of this meeting is to discuss improvements to SH 21/US 190 from 0.8 mile east of the Navasota River for approximately 20 miles to North Wilson Street in Madisonville, Madison County. Since this is an open house format, no formal presentation is planned. Interested citizens are invited to attend and may come and go at their convenience.
   
Description: Refined alternatives for the North Zulch segment of the project will be available for viewing. The preferred alignment for the remainder for the project corridor will also be on display. The proposed project includes:
  • Straightening sharp curves in the roadway
  • Adding two lanes (for a total of two lanes in each direction)
  • Adding 10-foot outside and 4-foot inside shoulders
  • Separating opposing traffic with a divided grass median
  • Providing crossover access
The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
