Public Meeting - FM 1788 Improvements

Purpose: To provide information and gather public input on the traffic operation improvements on a one-mile extension of FM 1788 from just south of Interstate 20 to Loop 40 (the entrance connecting FM 1788 to the Midland International Airport). Expected benefits include:
  • Improving safety along FM 1788 to reduce traffic accidents
  • Enhancing mobility and improving traffic flow

Cost and funding, as well as right of way and displacements, will be identified once the final design is determined.

This meeting will start with an open house, providing citizens with an informal come-and-go opportunity to learn more and talk with staff about the proposed project, review maps and other drawings showing the improvement options and provide comments about the project proposals.

   
Description: Proposed improvement options include adding:
  • A concrete median
  • Traffic signals
  • Wider lanes
  • Turnaround lanes
