I-69 Southwest/I-610 West Loop Interchange Reconstruction
Existing conditions
The I-69/I-610 interchange is a major connection point of two extremely busy highways serving the greater Houston area. I-69 (formerly US 59) provides access to inner loop developments, downtown, and residential/commercial developments. I-610 is a loop circling downtown Houston. The west portion of the loop in the vicinity of the interchange provides access to Memorial Park, the Galleria and the City of Bellaire.
Planned construction improvements
The interchange improvements include the following:
- Reconstructs one-lane connectors to two-lane connectors
- Upgrades interchange to current design standards
- Adds shoulders on I-610 West main lane bridge
- Increases vertical clearances
- Increases sight distances
- Adds detention ponds
- Eliminates major weaving
