Business 46 - New Braunfels
Business Loop 46, lined with restaurants and retail centers, historic landmarks and parks, has become integral to the economic life of New Braunfels. Near the heart of the city, the road intersects with the Union Pacific Railroad by way of the historic Landa Street underpass.
Nearly two decades ago local and state officials began to discuss a plan that would widen the roadway and replace the underpass. Since then the work has become a necessity due to congestion and safety concerns.
In order to address these issues, TxDOT will widen the roadway at the UPRR intersection as part of a $11.2 million investment in the city’s vibrant future.
The nine-month project began January 2013 and will conclude early 2014. Funding for the project comes from non-tolled Proposition 12 state grants.
